Destiny Navaira will team up with her sisters of the Mu Zeta Chapter of Sigma Lambda Gamma (SLG) for a Tejano Music Cultural event at the main campus of the University of Texas – San Antonio on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
The Latin Grammy-nominated singer shared details on the event and performed “No Te Perdonaré” on the lifestyle television show “Great Day SA” on Monday.
“It’s always a big topic in Tejano music that there’s a gap between the generations of fans, a 10-year gap,” said Destiny. “I figured why not be proactive using the connections I have. Sigma Lambda Gamma is a big part of who I was in college at UT in Austin and we’re a national sorority, so I figure what better way to give back to the community and give Tejano music to the youth. Educated Latinos, that’s really what I wanted to go for.”
The event will feature a live music performance by Destiny y Remedio and La 45, a young Chicano band hoping to spread Tejano and Chicano culture to a new crowd. The free event will be hosted by Rueben Realtor, awarded Best Realtor by the San Antonio Current.

The event is open to the public in an effort to raise money for the Chapter and bring Tejano Music to San Antonio youth and a chance to support SLG with donations (via Cashapp: $UTSAGammas) at UTSA with food, drinks, raffles, and much more at the HEB Student Union Ballroom (1 UTSA Circle, San Antonio, Tx) from 6 – 9 pm.
The next generation of the Navaira music legacy also shared her plans for an upcoming project that will honor songs written by her father, Tejano icon Raulito Navaira. Las Letras de Mi Padre is scheduled for release in May, Destiny recently released the lead single and music video titled “Eclipse,” one of many iconic Tejano hits penned by her father.

Destiny Navaira received a Latin Grammy nomination for her solo sophomore album, “Dime Como Se Siente” last year and won three Tejano Music Awards, including Female Artist of the Year in 2021, and Best New Female Artist in 2016, adding Best New Group with Grupo Remedio the same year.
