The future of Tejano music has arrived, they just took a roundabout way to get here.

Her name is Laura Denisse, her band is Los Brillantes, and while they hail from Monterrey, Mexico, the group currently lives and works in Nashville, the birthplace of country music.

However, to hear her belt out the beloved Tejano classics from icons like Laura Canales, Elsa Garcia, and even the one and only, Selena, you would think Laura Denisse grew up in South Texas.

Then, when you hear what else she can do, you are hooked. From Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary,” to Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire,” to the Texas Tornadoes’ “Hey Baby, Que Paso,” Laura Denisse y Los Brillantes can do it all. They connect cultures, bridge gaps, and most importantly, make music that moves you.

It is this same spunky, no-fear attitude with which she attacks her music that prompted Laura Denisse to contact via Instagram, the well-known Nashville and Mexican-American producer Misa Arriaga, who has worked with the likes of Kacey Musgraves, and as a result, get an album, “Fortune,” produced.

Laura Denisse y Los Brillantes received two nominations at the 43rd Annual Tejano Music Awards on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, including Best New Female Artist and Best New Group.
