Tejano music fans at San Antonio’s historic Market Square witnessed history with the passionate final Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair performance from Shelly Lares, one of the industry’s top superstars, on Saturday night( March 19).

After her farewell LMD Legacy Tour this year, Lares, known to her fans as “Little Miss Dynamite,” will retire from performing after a storied 40-year career filled with hits and milestones, and Saturday night she took the stage one last time as a solo artist at the popular TMA Fan Fair.

True to her moniker, Lares burst onto the stage with impressive energy and dynamism that only grew throughout her 45-minute set as she treated the cheering crowd to her top hits like “Mil Besos,” “Soy Tu Amor,” “No Quiero Saber,” “Ganas De Besarte,” and even took it back with her rock-tinged classics, “Sabes Que Si” and “Apaga La Luz.” Lares performed “Salsipuedes,” an innovative retro cumbia from her final Tejano album LMD82, released last year.

“Little Miss Dynamite” infused such enthusiasm into her performance that she even broke one of her drumsticks in half as she pounded away to the beat on her timbales.
