Award-winning singer Stevie D is working on a new album, his second with the legendary record label Freddie Records. The four-time Tejano Music Awards winner recently revealed something about himself that many fans don’t know about him during an interview with The Bo Corona Show this week, why he’s been called “The Snoop Dogg of Tejano.”
“I’m not as innocent as I look, some people call me the ‘Snoop Dogg of Tejano’,” Stevie D joked with radio host Bo Corona. “Oh look at the time it’s 4:20, I got to go.”
Hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg is known to enjoy the benefits of medical marijuana, the rapper admitted to smoking a mindblowing 81 blunts per day during a 2012 Reddit conversation, HipHopDx reports.
Stevie D shared he also uses medical marijuana for his Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) diagnosis after the military veteran’s experience during Operation Desert Storm in the early 90s.
“I am an unfortunate service-connected member with PTSD and that’s one of the medications that as of September 1, 2022, as a veteran of PTSD we are able to consume,” revealed Stevie D. “It helps with therapy and things like that. So, If you see me doing something you don’t think I should be doing, think again that’s why.”
Some Veterans use cannabis to relieve symptoms of PTSD and several states specifically approve medical cannabis for PTSD, according to a U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs article. Cannabis use by individuals with PTSD could produce short-term reductions in PTSD symptoms.
During the interview, Stevie D also promoted his upcoming performance at The Ballroom at Bayou Place in Houston, Texas, on Friday night (Feb. 10) with La Dezz and Latin Breed. He also discussed previously released music. His latest release is “Porque Tu,” a duet with Rebecca Valadez, a featured artist part of the All-Star Cast band.
