Eric Lee’s father, Lee Villarreal, is a member of the popular Tejano band Los Desperadoz. Eric Lee grew up surrounded by music and was influenced by his father’s style. However, he also had a love for pop music and wanted to create a sound that combined both genres.
The San Antonio singer’s music is characterized by its upbeat tempo and catchy melodies. He has been described as putting the “pop” in “Tejano Pop” 1. His music is a fusion of traditional Tejano sounds with modern pop elements.
In the interview, Eric Lee talked about how he is creating a new sound for the industry that appeals to both hardcore Tejano fans and younger pop audiences. He wanted to create something that would separate him from the established Los Desperadoz sound and make his mark on his own terms.
Eric Lee’s debut Tejano single, “Tejano Pop,” was released in March 2023 and was produced by award-winning hitmaker Gabriel Zavala. The song tells the story of a boy who grew up as the child of a Tejano singer and how he carries on the legacy of his family. The song is part of Lee’s upcoming solo debut Tejano EP.
