The Homeboyz plan ‘huge surprise’ for upcoming third album

The Homeboyz appeared on the Conjunto scene in 2021 and the group made of former members of The Hometown Boys continue that traditional sound with their music. The award-winning group plans a “huge surprise” for their upcoming third album.

The Homeboyz lead vocalist Elias Arredondo made the announcement in an interview with The Bo Corona Show. “It’s something that nobody in our industry — whether Tejano, Conjunto, or whatever — nobody in our industry is doing what we’re about to do.”

The singer didn’t share many details about the “surprise.” He added, “We got to keep it under wraps right now because the fact is that the label wants us to keep it under wraps until we completely finish with the CD.”

The Homeboyz have garnered many awards since their self-titled debut album in 2021, including Best New Group at the Tejano Music Awards in 2022 and Best New Male Vocalist for Arredondo. The band added New Artist of the Year honors at Premios Tejano Mundial and Conjunto Album of the Year at the inaugural Guadalupe Conjunto Awards.

The Conjunto group’s current hit song is “Mi Ultimo Dia,” a song that was very important to write for Arredondo from the band’s sophomore album Oddz.

“The song is so important to me because the fact is that I just got through having somebody who passed away in my life,” Arredondo tells Bo Corona. “And then I started thinking, you know a funeral doesn’t necessarily have to be a time of sorrow it can also be a time of celebration. A time that we can reflect on the things that they did that made us laugh, that made us cry, that made us think, that made us, you know, whatever. I started writing the lyrics and I started saying the verses. That fact is that people are always sad at funerals, let’s celebrate the person’s life instead.”
